Western Sydney University ranked 1st in the world in THE Impact Ranking

In the latest Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings, Western Sydney University has achieved the top spot globally for its significant contributions to social, ecological, and economic advancements.

The university has secured the top position globally for the second consecutive year, marking a historic achievement for an Australian institution. These renowned annual rankings evaluate universities' dedication to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), encompassing their teaching, research, outreach, and stewardship performance.

Western Sydney University's accomplishment places it at the top of the 1,700 institutions assessed.

Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Barney Glover AO, said: ""Beyond the region, many of our world-leading education and research programs and collaborative international partnerships are also making significant impact to reducing inequality and addressing issues like food and water security around the world. Social justice, inclusive education, addressing inequality, environmental stewardship and resilience – these are all core to our mission.
