First established as the Perth Institute of Business and Technology, Edith Cowan College has been an official pathway provider to Edith Cowan University (ECU) since 1994. In the past two decades, more than 9,000 students have successfully progressed to higher education from Edith Cowan College.
Edith Cowan College offers a range of pre-university programmes for international students, including English language courses, diplomas, and a Foundation programme. The Foundation programme is available in two streams, General and Science, both identical in duration, cost, and credit value. However, the Science stream is tailored specifically for students intending to pursue engineering at ECU. The college also provides language, literacy, and numeracy services to help students prepare for university-level study.
Students can also choose from diploma pathways in the following subject areas:
For students with existing tertiary qualifications, Edith Cowan College also offers a Post-Graduate Qualifying Programme. This course equips students with the academic skills, subject knowledge, and English language support needed for successful entry into ECU master’s degrees.
CRICOS code: 01312J
Edith Cowan College primarily offers study and counselling support for international students. These are given by Learning Advisors, Academic Programme Coordinators, the Student and Academic Services Team, and Student Counsellors, all of whom are dedicated to student wellbeing.
Additionally, the college strives to provide access and inclusion to all students, offers a student health service, is home to a multifaith chaplaincy, and can give legal and financial advice to students.
Edith Cowan College students have access to on-campus accommodation at the ECU Mount Lawley and Joondalup Student Villages, which host five-bedroom apartments close to the campus. Modern and fully furnished, these apartments have private bedrooms and bathrooms and large kitchens and spacious lounge areas, so students can enjoy both privacy and the opportunity to hang out with their friends.
ECU Mount Lawley and Joondalup Student Villages also come with a pool, café/convenience store, sound lounge, e-library, study zones, and shared laundry. Students can easily transition to a new life in such a location where all facilities can be conveniently accessed. Homestays and temporary and privately arranged accommodation are also available for students who may prefer to live off campus.
Edith Cowan College students have access to ECU’s wider campus, which means that students can be a part of the vibrant university community from the first day. This also allows students to become familiar with the location and be confident in starting university life once they’ve completed their pathway courses.
The university’s facilities are equipped with the latest technology, including eLabs, science labs, and modern classrooms with state-of-the-art multimedia facilities. The campus is easily accessed by public transport, made cheaper by the Western Australian government’s 40% public transport discount for international students. The college itself is located in Western Australia’s capital, Perth, lined with sandy beaches and dotted with riverside beauty.
International students first arriving in Australia can access the campus via the Perth International Airport – a 40-minute drive away. Edith Cowan College provides a free airport pickup service for new students studying English, followed by a pathway programme or students directly entering a pathway programme. You can either book the free service before arrival or take a taxi from the airport and redeem your fare at the college.
